I gotta say my strat sounds pretty damn good through my fulldrive II. The settings are almost completely opposite of what I set it with humbuckers, too. Fat and will with some bite to boot... I had no idea how versatile this pedal was.
Definitely my Traynor YCV40. Very nice smooth "singing" distortion. I do use external effect loop, but only to control dynamics and add delay/flange (Furman PQ3 parametric EQ, DeltaLab 1024 delay, Symetrix 501 comp/lim)
I could have been someone... but so could anyone
Fulldrive 2....superb.
Boss OD-20...most underrated distortion pedal on the market IMO....for under $100 on Ebay it cant be beat,IMHO.
I favor the Keeley moded TS-9 through a Fender amp. The key (as mentioned before) is using less drive and more level to push your tube amp...tons of warmth. However, I do tend to crank the drive to avoid deafening amp volume in smaller rooms. I hate tinnitus!
FD2 & an old Ibanez Super Tube STL (sounds allot like the FD2)...
dont need one I use Rivera tube amps, or marshalls or souped up Fenders
Guyatone OD2
I use either a Maxon OD-9 or the new Vox Cooltron BigBen - I love both of them.
71 Fender Champ or any lower power tube amp dimed or a tube sounding distortion box that I built from Craig Anderton's book from Radio Shack parts and a home made pcb. This box is magic. I don't know why. It could be my sloppy workmanship. I made it about 8 years ago and it still works great. But my all time favorite is a 75 Fender Fuzz Wah. It has a really huge sound. Tha wah sound is just ok but that fuzz just knocks you over with 70's distortion.

My strat sounds awesome through my '56 Princeton! It's the best overdrive tone I've ever heard. I do use an Ibanez, TS-9 Tube Screamer with my '77 Deluxe Reverb.

When I was younger I never used OD pedals I just cranked my amps up full blast! Nowadays that's not very practical though so I have an assortment of OD pedals. FDII, Sparkle Drive, Bluesbreaker, modded Blues Driver, Cream-Tone to name a few (actually almost all). These are all pretty good for blues and some classic rock. I do have an original Marshall Guv'nor pedal that'll get a Fender amp into Marshall territory quite easily. Lately I've been favoring small low powered combo amps and the judicious use of pedals, something I never did in my youth. I'm amazed that I can still hear after years of playing through cranked 100 watt piggy back amps. Ah, the old halcyon days are now but a mere memory. These days I'm using a load dump even with a 22 watt deluxe reverb!
Well I love pedals..ever since I first saw Hendrix live I had to have pedals. LOL. My favorite right now is a beautiful fuzz called Sybil made by Retroman that's basically three fuzz's in one using two separate circuits. You can have Germanium or Silicon or combine the two. Very sweet handmade fuzz. I am very vintage I guess and Jimi is still my main influence and he also used Silicon fuzz's as I understand it. Either way this one does it all.
That and a vibe, wah, octavia and beano clone is pretty much it.
But I'm also on the waiting list for an Analogman King Of Tone.
And I am sure I will want one of the modded tubescreamer's.

I've got two (well, technically three):
1. TS-9 Tubescreamer reissue. Yep. The non-modded, non-boutique, non-808 plain vanilla bone stock Tubescreamer. Light on the drive, heavy on the level, tone just a hair left of dead center. With a BF/SF Fender that is pushing a little air on it's own, it works perfectly for me.
2 & 3. DOD 250 Overdrive: Got two of 'em - one original yellow box, and the recent reissue. The original has more gain on tap and snarls a little more, the reissue is smoother and more polite sounding. To me, both of them sound like a hot Tube Screamer without the midrange hump. Lately, the older one has been my go-to pedal for just about everything.
Overdrive: Roger Mayer Voodoo-1
Fuzz: Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz
Whatever happened to Digitech Bad Monkey? Nobody likes Bad Monkey anymore?

Boss BD-2
FD2, or a modded MXR Dist + (for thicker "is that a strat" tones).

Up until a couple weeks ago it was two Boss overdrives in series, but then I got an old Ibanez FatCat and a Boss Power Driver. The Fat Cat has some really wild overtones when it's cranked but a nice milder od backed off. The Boss thing runs from clean boost to a way cool fuzzy thing with massive sustain. I'm liking both of them a lot. The FatCat is a bit noisy but WTH, the noise gate helps a lot. An early Russian BigMuff is cool too. Hell, I like em all. Just like some more. I even like the HM2. Go figure

I've always been partial to good fuzzes - not just with strats but just about any guitar. In particular, my favorites are the Fulltone '69 for all-around use and on occasion a Soulbender for really thick, rich single note stuff.
I'm using one since my footswitch channel switcher has failed on me. I've read all the reviews; and @ $40USD, it's really a pretty decent sounding OD (NOT distortion) pedal.Originally Posted by Plugger
The pedal itself sounds pretty good, but the bypass is a tone sucker.
Several guitars in different colors
Things to make them fuzzy
Things to make them louder
orange picks
at the moment my choice a MARSHALL 1st generation BluesBreaker Pedal, but the BOSS Blues Driver also rocks for me...

I had one of those pedals. I wish I still did, but They needed a true bypass, as they are a tone sucker when off. As nice a pedal as a good TS. Very under-rated, and I`ll bet can be found cheeep!!;)Originally Posted by pit_s_xroad

I've heard good things about the 1st gen Marshall BluesBreaker. Everybody’s favorite guitarist, John Mayer, digs them.
I've looked at getting the Keeley moded Boss Blues Driver for more of a rhythm OD. Anyone got one?

I have reestablished my affair with my jekyll/hyde unit after retubing the amp.
A very versatile dual effect. You can just touch thesound with some od or really thicken it like Mojo-Gravy!
it is also a good Distortion unit for MANY sounds.
Yep - Its back and I am pulling the ad in classifieds......

My Drivetrain II is good, but I bought a Bad Monkey last week and it's REALLY good.
I use a Reverend Kingsnake amp.
Strats and Mustangs and Coronados...OH MY!
Bad Monkey->Holy Grail Reverb->'70 Fender Champ with P10R speaker = heaven. Still not tired of this setup.
62 strat/bad monkey/65 non-reverb deluxe. i try to avoid pedals but i do like the bad monkey.
Tube Zone for me, a pedal made in Sydney by a really nice guy.
