    Famous Squier Players

I need some help gathering names of famous (or infamous) Squier players.

So far my list is pretty short:

    Jeff Healey
    John Mayall

anyone able to add to this?

    Thanks in advance.

Did Tom move back to DC? When I lived there, he had just moved to Austin.

you know when I used to live in Old Town Alexandria - where Tom played allot back in the 80's he lived around as he became a friend of a friend and I got to see him quite a bit on and off stage - he is a hard working gigging musician and really a great guy. But since he's playing around here local just like the old days it is assumption on my part that he lives around here still - But what do I know I'm a dumbass! When he plays in a small club with 50 people he rips it up, I know that. He is playing around allot this month and I am hoping to get out and see him play - it's been awhile.

Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley plays an extremely cool Squier Telecaster... I think it is vintage... you can check him on Portishead's DVD Roseland NYC.

Steve Rothery of Marillion (www.marillion.com) played a Squier Strat for years. He has just turned to the Dark Side though and is using Levinson Blades.

Why would anyone use a Squier over a Fender?

Back in the early 80's "Fender" strats just plain sucked. CBS had sucked all the life out of Leo's company. There were the two knob strats, Strat "Elites," some MIJ Fender strats with crappy locking nuts and other abominations. The reissues hadn't been made yet.

Squires, at the time, anyway, were MIJ strats with relatively vintage features. They could at least be modded not to suck by replacing the pickups, which was more than you could say about the rest, which if used for firewood, would give off toxic fumes.
