'Nother request for song suggestions, Plz.

O.K. we scrambled our line-up, changed our look, and are writing a new set list (actually, we've got enough stuff for 5 or 6 full sets, but we're always looking.) the new line-up is a three piece and the new genre is cowpunk/psychobilly, heavy on the psycho and the punk.

we're already leaning heavily on social distortion, plus we do killer versions of "Streets of Laredo", "Lonesome Fugitive", and "Image of Me". we've also worked up "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing" and "One Way or Another", and i just re-learned the words to "Six Days on the Road". so, bearing all that in mind, what y'all got for me?

oh yeah, i've been listening to a lotta 'mats lately too, so we got that side covered.

six days on the road is a killer fucking song, might as well learn seven days by mr. dylan. i love that song. also powderfinger by mr. young is a cool song.

i think though that if you learn some old songs by some classic country artists and change them a little you'll be golden. it really depends on what YOU want to do. don't let club owners tell you what to do.

"Thirty Days In The Hole" and "All The Way From Memphis" by Mott The Hoople.

We used to do a killer punk/thrash version of "Leavin' On A Jetplane". Brought the house down every time!

    "Tell Mama" by Savoy Brown

    "Train Train" Blackfoot version

    "My Maria" B.W. Stevenson

And the one you should never be without in the genre you mention...

"Green Grass and High Tides"The Outlaws

    Which leads to Gator Country...

    "Old Hippie" Belamy Brothers

And of course, some Little Feat always gets them up, that's fo' sure! A little "Dixie Chicken" or "Fat Man in the Bathtub" and you'll own them.

All guaranteed to kill when done right.

Check out "Don't Take Your Guns To Town" on Jerry Douglas' "Down On The Farm"...Steve Earle singing. Great soaring geetar things in there that'll suit you just peachy and the new gangland verse is appropriate for today.

I've been messin' around with "Ain't Living Long Like This" which I first heard on a Waylon album, but is a Crowell. You can medly it with "Ooh Las Vegas" and "Amarillo" etc. just keep cooking more and more and more as the music progresses. Now I'm half-timing it into a sleezy heavy "Shame On The Moon" as the tag-tune at the end. Do it right before "break" cause you'll be pooped at the end.

    (works for me, but ymmv)

There's a song by the New York Dolls. I thinks its called, I'ma lookin for a kiss???? or by the same group, Trash! go pick it up, go throw your love away! Or was that T-Rex? In fact Kiss by Prince would be a great repackaged song.
