what secrets are there (other then severe playing for 40 years ) to replicate a SRV #1 finish? :

I believe most of that finish damage was done by SRV in the time he had that guitar.
I think he said it was in pretty good shape and he used to touch up the finish with model paint.
In any case, he displays some of the more advanced relicing techniques on the El Mocambo video.
so i guess i should throw it on the ground and tramp on it :ahem
Or this:
right on dude! :P
Rare SRV photos from his early times #1 is barely worn!!!
Other pics show the wear!! All this was done from playing throwning the guitar no fake relic wear.
Fezz, that picture is classic!! Funny thing is that strat is probably still in tune and ready to play...try THAT with a Lester!
I think that heavy turquoise jewlery will speed up the relicing process!

Mark, those early SRV pics are a trip. Love the "JLV" style pomp!:yay
Ya I love those pics!!
SRV was using big strings back then too look at the wound ones in those early photos.
Holy shit! Who actually dragged that guitar behind the car?

Fender did. That pic was taken outside of FMIC in July of 2003. This guitar is brand new and was sold for serious coin as part of the "Relic Series".Originally Posted by grito
