"580" Stamp in Japanese Strat Neck Pocket

I've seen these on the neck pockets in some Japanese strat bodies (both left and right-handed). The examples I saw were made in the 80s. Does anyone know what the "580" denotes?

off hand I'd say its the color (Arctic White) Technically the 5 denotes less case and the 80 is the actual color number.
thats my guess...since my memory is fading with age.

    all the best,

    Rob:

Thank you- that makes sense. come to think of it, the ones with that stamp are white (well, all faded to yellow now).

    cheers
