new CIJ strat question

I never owned a vintage style strat before so this question might appear ...uh...yeah.
Anyway, on my 62 reissue CIJ strat, does the tone knob work for the bridge pickup at all? Mine doesn't, the tone knobs on mine works for the middle and neck pickups.
If this is common, is it normal for people to reroute the wiring so the tone control works for the bridge? thanks!

If its wired stock the tone controls have no effect when the bridge is selected by itself.

Thats the first thing I do on all Strats is wire the bridge pickup to a tone control. It takes that harshness right out quick.

Another way to take the harshness out is to attach a steel baseplate to it.

Righto Pete also adds a little bass response.

I added the steel plate to the neck and middle on a strat and it thickened up all the pickups. I guess it changes the magnetic field and makes the pickups respond a little differently.

Tone control connected to the bridge pickup??? Insanity!!! :)

This is a flavor thing - I couldn't imagine wanting to smooth or mellow out the bridge position in my strats - just not something I would use, and I like the extra zing of not having the pot in the circuit.

I always mode my strats so the bridge tone works. all it takes is a about a 2 inch piece of wire.. super simple mod.
