Urgent Help

ADMIN: Please don't move this thread, I know about "The Woodshed" forum, but rarely do people post there, and I need help quick from other guitarists, this is the most popular forum. Thanks.

Guitarists, I'm really stuck on this one, I'm planning to start learning scales and chords, so I found a source that shows you a ton of scales, but I have no clue at all on how to play this.

Could anyone explain how to read this? Choose the A Major scale.

I'm not sure what problems you're having reading it, but here goes...

The marked notes are the notes of the scale on the fretboard. The far left is the beginning of the neck from the nut, and it goes right towards the higher sounding frets. Also, the picture is upside down - the lowest sounding E string is shown on the bottom of the diagram, and the highest sounding is on the top. With those points in mind, you should be able to transfer the notes from the diagram onto your guitar.

It's best to split it up into smaller parts. Maybe about four fretsworth of the scale, so that you're not overstretching your fingers.

Duh......I don't know how to post a link but if you go to Guitarvision it allows 10 scale downloads free and they have a player that looks like a guitar and it shows you exactly where to fret and where to pick. It doesn't teach anything about run on sentences though. : )
