How to remove the satin poly from necks?

I don't especially like the plastic-y feel like on most of the U.S. style strats. It always seems to me the sound is softer or muffled with it as well.
I like either laquer or oiled. I found a nice Jimmie V neck I like. I'd like to remove the poly from the front and back of the neck. Playing area only, I don't care about the headstock. If I sand, I'll take wood too. I don't want to do that.

So you want some stripper? The best thing for that is JASCO Paint & Epoxy Remover. But it will take some time, & it will also melt the position markers & even the nut if you're not careful. You're probably better off sending the neck out to a custom shop to have it duplicated, or just be very careful when you sand.
