I read so many conflicting things about oils. I have a maple neck and I have often used gunstock Tru-oil. I read that's what Ernie Ball Music mans uses. I love the feel of their necks.

In the past though, while mine have come out nice, they have a more waxy feel and shine to them. Not the dry, woody feel of the Music Mans. I only used about 3 coats, buffing with fine steel wool in between. The necks come out nice but maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe there is a better product.?

Maybe just some lemon oil and leave the natural wood? Peavey Wolfgangs are like that. I have read where a lot of people say that dries the wood out, but Fender, Peavey, Taylor all recommend lemon oil for conditioning their rosewood. Any suggestions?
