    Oak Bodied Strat

I have never seen or heard of such a beast. With its stability and hardness, I'm surprised that there has not been such an animal constructed.

Due to it's hardness, it would be very brite I'm sure. I think it is harder than ash.

    Just curious.

I think the main reason is that it wouldn't be in sync with the weights of regular strats, maybe a tradition thing?

You rarely see all maple Strats too same reason too bright. The more dense the wood is the brighter the sound will be.

Peavey used to make solid oak strats.

Also consider the open grain of oak is worse than ash requiring a lot of filler and it splits and cracks easier than ash too.

I tried a couple strat type guitars with bodies made from solid bigleaf maple. They actually were not as bright as you would think. I'm sure if it were made from solid hardrock maple, it would be incredibly bright.

    Maple Bodies ...

A couple of the Godin Strat styled guitars are maple as I recall.

I had a Schecter Strat once that had a body made out of African Bubinga. It weighed in at WELL over 10 pounds!

Heavier than the Les Paul Custom I used to own.
