I'd like to make my next tele from scratch. Is this worth it?

It's one thing to buy a bunch of parts and assemble a guitar, but nothing beats the feeling of creating it from scratch. It's a lot of work, but very gratifying. I made the Tele body in my avatar from scratch and made all my own templates too. It's a mahogany body with a bookmatched, carved maple top. Took me about 8 weeks to complete the guitar. The neck is off a Strat, but I used to make my own necks too.

So, yes, it is worthwhile. I really can speak for those e-bay templates though. There's just no way of knowing until you get them.

I don't see anything obviously wrong with the templates, but that would be a drag to buy them & find out after the fact. I guess it's only $40. I made my own templates off a Tele body out of .75 MDF. I don't know what the heck Eucaboard is!
