unbelievable!!
A good friend's brother has a 57 in red that he bought new in 58 with a Fender amp. Both are still like new...and not for sale, especially not that low. :)
My guess is it goes for $40,000. Should be interesting. It's at $22,000 and change as I post this. Anyone got any price predictions?
$40K is on the high side. Not braggin' or nuthin', but my '56 that I just bought is actually in alittle better shape, one-piece ash body, two years older, etc. It was significantly less than $40K. I would think $25-28K would be tops on this, even with the amp thrown in. . .
Thanks, Spose! What's funny to me is that a dealer had that guitar for MONTHS at "stupid money" - I paid REAL close to stupid money for it; after I bought it, the same guys that were trying to work the dealer down below what I paid for it are now offering ME the original price for it! :ahemOriginally Posted by Spose
What's the mentality there? Is it some kind of "price check"? "Oh, there IS at least one other idiot out there that'll pay stupid money; guess I'll offer THAT guy stupid money. . ."
I don't think there are "price checks" on vintage guitars. It's pretty much pay what the market will bear. Unfortunately, and it's been said here before, the pure collectors...the non-players with huge dollars to spend.... are draining the market of these precious instruments. Then supply and demand takes over, and we see prices that players can hardly afford if at all. Amps are getting silly that way too. What's the latest price of a '59 Bassman, mint, with tags? And if the old stuff didn't play so damn great and sound so wonderful, this vintage equipment might all be just a piece of history.
That sure is pretty. Pretty much my ideal axe.....
Where did I put my small change wallet....
How do you think he'll take an offer of Ł6.50? Will the exchange rate work in my favour? Or am I just being a ?
I wouldn't call ya a dumbass. "Excessively hopeful" maybe...?
Here's a '56 that ended at $25,263.61

Funny looking auction, though.

Dang. I hate it when that happens. Especially for $25K.Originally Posted by bluesgtr20
