Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
Very beautiful indeed, though I myself ain't a fan of natural/stripped strats...
Even sunbursts don't appeal to me as much as a cool black/olympic/green/red strat. Those are the real classics according to my taste...
Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
Aren't we fortunate that Fender makes Strats for ALL of our tastes? :salud:
Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
I love this roasted ash and all the natural finishes Fender makes.
Serge, I'm a bit of a Clapton fan and love black Strats. Your black one is beautiful. I've been partial to sunburst ever since I got the Layla album in 74. The Strat on the back cover is to me THE look of a Strat.

I was affected the same way! Two tone sunburst and a maple neck per Buddy Holly and Eric Clapton!
This roasted finish Strat looks great!
Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
my POS '74 (bought new) kind of soured me on sunburst strats for many years. It's stupid but there it is. Lately I've been more of a solid color/metallic finish preference. I'm watching eBay auctions for a strat body but will probably wait until January before I get one.
Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
I love natural wood on guitars.

Though I actually prefer the looks of a black strat with a maple board, mine has RW because I like the feel of a RW board better. But there's a particular beauty to RW strats too! :salud:
Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
I like Sunburst, White and Natural colored Strats...
JMHO...

In all honesty, the image I wanted to post was not post-able, so I used a substitute. However, every time I look at it, I'm disconcerted by some of its irregular lines. I found one that's a little more visually appealing to me...

I'm surprised they used a 3-piece body for that. I'd prefer 2-piece.

AFAIK strats never really had a tradition of being made of one or two pieces, that never was an issue to Leo and Don Randall... Even in the 60s strat bodies would be made of several pieces. The Gibson crowd is usually much less forgiving about this.

I had a 3-tone sunburst Strat with a 3-piece body and had no problem with it. I think if you're going to make a guitar like this, where the wood is a prominent feature, you should stick with a 1 or 2-piece body.

Likely a cost-cutting feature. At $2299 new, it's already not a bargain.
Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
My USA Tele has a really nice body - you can barely see where the pieces (2) are glued together. The strat is like 5 pieces, but it was cheap and sounds amazing - especially with the '69 custom shop pickups in it.

Re: Good Golly, Miss Molly!
I own 2 strats. One is a 1 piece, the other one a 4 (as far as I could tell, could even be 5). The multipiece sounds MUCH better. I know there are SEVERAL other factors for that, but nevertheless...

That wall was reallocated to a Gibson wall...:spin:
