I'm sure mine isn't the oldest , but it is an early 1953 Esquire made in Feb 53. I love the wide open tone esquires get. The pup is 6.25K and it really screems but, I have the pup very close to teh strings. Wow , it gets me every time I plug it in : stompin good tone.:drl :wail1 :wav :sun
I must revise my thread , I also have an organ button steel from 1948 with a walnut body very cool with teh direct string pup , Leo's first. Someone must have an old K&F , I think I saw one on some dealers web site. Love old Fender lore. :D
My oldest Fender is also a 53 Esquire. I have had it out in the living room for a few days playing it acoustically while watching television. The acoustic tone of this guitar is amazing. Thick and full, but well defined. It kind of reminds me of hitting a chord on a grand piano. It still has the original frets so it is hard to play but what a great sounding guitar! :60burst
In the early 60's, when we just started to tour and had all Fender gear but no accoustic guitars, we used to press the head of the Jazzmaster (or Strat) against the side of a big wardrobe (like they have in Germany called "Schrank")
That gave an eerie great accoutic sound.
Of course it was not to be re-created on stage....
Thinking of your old Esquires, I had one in '63 but it was a spare for my Jazzy. At that time, at least here in Germany, there was only Jazzmaster or Strats. I had the very first german Tele, it was baby blue, in 1961 nad darn foll I didn't keep it. I think it ended up with the guy from Badfinger.....
pictures, pictures!!
lets see some more shots of these old gtrs.....
Wow! A '48 steel!
I have a refinished and re-necked '57 with replacement pickups.
I have a '56 strat with a new neck, body, pickups & hardware.
That's okay because everybody knows the TONE is in the pickguard!
I have a '46 Strat. I has a big ding on the back, from when Les Paul threw it back at Leo Fender, shouting, "I wouldn't be caught on stage setting FIRE to this POS!!!" I have all teh paperwork to verify this... really
Jim is right, here are a few pictures, I guess I don't need to explain, with the exception that I used to be blonde...

GROOVY, PICTURES! :wow I enjoyed em. :) :60burst
I'll have to post a photo of my '55 Strat.
Post away! I have a 55 Strat, also. I really like that year for Stratocasters. Some of the best Strats I have played were 55s.
Sooooo.... Let's see 'em!
Someday I will post some pictures but right now I am too technically challenged. I will figure it out eventually.....:60burst
