The Inexorable Sunday Thread for May 25, 2025
It's a three day weekend here in the U. S. as tomorrow we honor those who gave all in service to our country. So, today is like the cream in an Oreo cookie. What does that mean for us?
Well, for me it means normal, pleasant Sunday. The weather is supposed to be picture perfect, with lots of sun, temperatures in the low 70s, and I'd be nuts if I didn't spend some time outdoors. First, there's church, then I'll likely go for lunch, and perhaps take in a ball game. I will continue my guitar playing streak (I'm at 91 days; my last streak was 140), and in between soak in some sun while I give the legs, heart and lungs something to do.
Here's wishing everyone a pleasant Sunday. A gentle reminder for my fellow Americans: Take 90 seconds of silence tomorrow at 3:00pm local to honor the fallen.

Well, if it ever stops raining in the Northeast, I might actually get out and ride my motorcycle, pedal my bicycle, go kayaking, get back under the deck to secure it again because all the rain keeps undermining the footings, make level area with gravel and cinder blocks to receive my transported shed once get over there to attach skids to the bottom of it so it will slide up onto the trailer, cut the grass, attend a party, and a multitude of other things I would get to if it would just stop raining...

We finally have a Sunday with clear blue skies and Memorial Day promises more of the same so it will be a fun weekend for sure. A little cruising with the Corvette today and some time on a Harley tomorrow...it just can't get any better. YIPPEE!

woke up in terror of the bright shiny yellow thing in the sky but calmed down when distant almost forgotten memories told me what it was. A UFO
It'll at least not be rainy today and tomorrow. It won't be hot but it will be nice. I'm waiting to hear back from a Messenger reply to a Facebook listing for some acoustic foam panels I posted last night. Had a surprise yesterday when a studio monitor control I posted just the day before sold. I didn't expect any response to it. The market it weird these days.
Sitting on money that is earmarked for another purpose does nothing for suppressing GAS. Nor does having a fully paid off Affirm account that just boosted my available balance by 50%. The struggle is real.
Going to walk outside, first time in ages it seems. Been doing the hamster in a wheel thing so much lately. At least I get to listen to tunes when I do that. Wish my phone could maintain Bluetooth when walking outside but then again, it's safer not to be so disconnected from surroundings. I'm unlikely to be run down by an e-bike while tuning out in the gym.
Last Saturday I went downtown. Never did end up going anywhere but I walked around checking out various venues. Waiting on a corner, I was just about to step off the curb with the pedestrian walk light when some a-hole on an e-bike blew through the red light inches from my toe. Be careful out there. I saw a lot of aggro behavior yesterday when I was out and about.

Just heard back from the interested party. They actually read the ad and saw that I put "these are for sound treatment, not sound proofing." She was looking for sound proofing. I wished her luck in her endeavors.

Played close to home this week so easy livin' here in the wet, cold, lake country. Enough rain already.
Had a fun learning experience. Bass player had a random crackle in his rig that we first thought was a cable but couldn't track down, then we figured a cap was going in his rig. After about an hour of it we found the source - somebody had laid their cell phone on top of his rig and we didn't see it. Word to the wise, no cell phones on stage. They can really screw with sound. I've seen this become more of an issue with the advent of new mixers that use wireless devices. If you use a tablet, keep it away from any amp heads or rack gear.
That said, if I see one more local band opening act where the lead singer is reading lyrics off an iPad I'm throwing them off the fecking stage. Absolutely kills the vibe and audience connection. Learn your effing lyrics. If that's too hard for you buy a freaking prompt.

Work has been beating to death; so much I thought about resigning the other day. I?m a proactive person fighting against 300 reactionary people that can?t seem to even follow a written procedure
anyways, the weekend is better. Have 2 of 3 vehicles repaired from hail damage. Have a solid lead on selling one of them next weekend )got to find that title).
Played lead at church today and all went great. Played the CS 57 Strat. It was exactly what I needed to refresh myself. Tomorrow the Mrs and I are mattress shopping. Oh I do not know if I can handle all the joy that brings LOL.

Look into a Sleep Number mattress. I think I’ve been using one for around fifteen years now and love it!
