The Sunday Thread for Mother's Day, 11-May-2025
If you ever had a mother (or are one), this day is the day to take notice and honor them. It may be a Hallmark Holiday, but Mom deserves a little consideration, don't you think?
So, it's Mother's Day. I'm taking my daughter and family, including HER mother (my ex, if anyone is keeping score) out for lunch today. It's been like pulling shark's teeth getting her to sit still for even a moment; she's carting my granddaughter off to dance classes and competitions, working from home full time, and flipping houses. We might start a conversation via text and the next thing you know, she's gone silent. I told her she needs to at least make an attempt to let me know when she's not able to chat anymore. So, at least today we'll have some F2F time together. I don't envy her busy life!
Our church decided to honor moms by replacing the women who serve as greeters, babysitters and communion servers with men of the congregation today. I serve communion often, when asked, so I volunteered to do so again. Other guys are not so experienced, so we're showing up half and hour early to get the scoop. Served by a woman. Go figure.
So, other than that, it promises to be a delightful day. I did a five mile walk yesterday around the golf course community in absolutely perfect weather for it, temperature around 70?, slightly breezy and bright sun. More of the same today but slightly warmer. Depending on what happens after lunch, I may do it again. Otherwise, it's baseball, guitar practice and enjoying the day. I hope the rest of you do, too.

Yup. Mom's coming over for some sausage & squash soup and strawberry rhubarb pie. Just a few of us today. Not much left of the family.
Crawled around under the deck Thursday straightening the footings that were all leaning severely to one side. No gutters on the house and erosion got the best of them. Managed to jack it up and straighten them all out. Two people, 8 hours, pickup truck, shovel and a Come-a-long. Glad that over for now.
Lots of music this week and maybe even a few bicycle rides!

nothing for Mother's Day here, mom's been gone 4 years now. gotta get the cellar ready for the plumbers coming tomorrow to jackhammer the old pipes up and put in the new pipes. Bunch of bags of concrete mix are in the way. 50 pounders, about 12 of them. Not looking forward to that.
Put my MJT strat body up for sale yesterday. The neck is back on, strung up and now I'm listing the whole guitar. Then I start working on listing my Custom Shop Strat. A few more smaller things to go up. Later this week I'm opening the Bethnal Green (Monty's Peter Green set) and fixing to put them in my R0. I need to start playing to get my chops back up and give these a good try. I also have a set of Rolph '58 Pretenders. Not in as big a hurry to sell either one. Who knows, I may end up with one from each set in my guitar.

Been feeling under the weather since Friday Pm. (Very tired and my focal dystonia is acting up big time, so no playing instruments). This is the 19th Mothers Day without my mom. Originally was going to see my mom in law, but decided not to as. It feeling great. Did a few odd jobs around the house. Got a good lead on selling my Mini. Should show it tomorrow.
