Sunday Mawnin' Thread for March 30, 2025
I woke up to rain and according to the forecast, it will continue to rain for the next 7 consecutive days.
Found a used footswitch for my Katana amp yesterday and will likely devote some time to learning how to use it today.
My new Martin SC13E Special Edition continues to impress and sounds absolutely wonderful through an amp or a PA.
Learning a bunch of songs for a duet gig where I'm backing up a singer/songwriter for some upcoming summer gigs. Acoustic.
Did a bunch of electrical projects yesterday. Lighting fixtures, faulty outlet, GFI breaker and such. Still working out the details at the new abode.
Going to finish out the day with an acoustic jam at the local community center. Cracks me up. It's a bunch of geezers attempting songs that should never be considered in a group learning environment playing along to a chart of the song projected on a large screen. Some of the participants submit songs to play that cannot play themselves, and it's pretty funny to watch everyone bumble their way through it.
For me it's a chance to keep the fingers moving and perhaps meet some other players.

A week of repair and renewal. Seems like things like to go bad in threes: I replaced the water regulator in my master bathroom (oddest thing: I just stopped working, no drips, leaks, nothing. Maybe it got blocked. I've never seen such a thing). My Dyson vacuum battery died (again!). I decided against spending another hundred dollars on a battery and bought a new cordless (made in China) off Amazon for $80. Spent some time surveying the landscaping needs as Spring has most definitely made its appearance. My back and right hip are already complaining!
A routine Sunday, but now that baseball is officially under way, I have a distraction for a while. My team is starting the season just like they ended last year: Strong starting pitching, a lousy bullpen and no hitting, despite getting some fresh bats in the lineup. 0-2 so far. Church this morning, but I'm passing on lunch out, instead I'm planning on cooking my own. I haven't yet decided what, but that's part of the fun. I've also dusted off a couple of old instrumentals out of the cobwebs, as I'm attending the Artisan Guitar Show in Pennsylvania next weekend. That should be a lot of fun!
Here's to Sunday!

It’s been raining here for the last few days and for the next few it’s supposed to be a mix of rain and snow showers, but at least I don’t have to shovel it. The northern portion of the state (last forecast I heard) was supposed to get freezing rain with 1/2 of ice forming.
I got word that I’ll be back playing in the house/host band for a weekly jam session at a friend’s bar starting in two weeks. I ran this open mic weekly for 2 1/2 years with COVID shutting us down. Unfortunately, my old friend who was our guitar player and lead vocalist has passed away, and another old friend who was on keys is now in assisted living with health issues. I’ve known and worked with both of these musicians for 50+ years so it’s a real loss. I know we have some top-flight players filling their spots, but it just won’t be the same.

raining here, too. Kept me from going to see a band last night.
had a post ready to go but power blips severed my internet connections while I was typing and I didn't notice, went to post and got "you are not connected to the internet". Auto-save had a discarded version of my post. Bah humbug
I'll just say that I've had an interesting week, to put it mildly. Health news, domestic situation revelations, leading toward a sell-off to drastically reduce my accumulated gear. Better do it now than under duress.
Play guitar? Ain't nobody got time for that. :biglaugh:

Have some hail damage to repair from. Potentially more tonight.
Received a Jackson PC1 last week. Plays and sounds great. Prepping 5 instruments for sale as well as a Fractal processor. Played some gigs today and oops bought a 335 tonight.
