Sunday Mawnin' Thread 02/16/2025. Snowy Berkshire Thread
Snowing again in the 'shires. A clean white blanket covered the land again last night.
An excellent blues jam is canceled today because of the snow. Just as well, I have a bunch of songs to learn for a couple of upcoming projects.
Moved some gear over to a really nice music store in Northampton to go on consignment. The big purge is about to begin. I may even move a few pieces to get one really great acoustic. I have enough gear to trade for a while, LOL. Maybe I'll move a bunch of old stuff and buy a few new pieces. Clear out the clutter and only own stuff I'm going to actively play. Always fun!
In other news, Les Dudek is playing with the remaining members of the Allman Bros Band now and they're doing a Tribute to Dicky Betts tour. Looking forward to seeing that. So far, just one show on the calendar in Florida. Should be great!
Everyone have a good day!

Good mawnin' everyone! Only rain today, with unseasonably warm temperatures. But that's going to end. Word is we're expecting 7-10 inches of snow midweek. Yeah, it's time for me to take my annual Florida-Caribbean vacation, which begins Friday.
Today is the usual. Church in a short while, then I'll swing buy for some pho for lunch, then home for practice, reading, and (if I can steel myself for going out in the rain) some thank-you-heart exercise. As usual, tonight I'll settle in for some mellowness with the Night Tides broadcast out of Kansas City.
Stay warm, stay dry, stay groovy.

I?ll check in later to offer more as I am between sound check/rehearsal and 1st gig, but the 54RI LPC and Ric 1993+ are getting their stage debut.

Yesterday was rough as we had to say goodbye to our dog. We just said goodbye to our cat 2.5 weeks ago. (Dog - Sir Ringo Starr has had diabetes the last year. Finally came to a failed renal system with the liver not far behind. Cat - Eleanor had metastasized stomach cancer). Yes we tend to name our pets after Beatles related names.
first set went great with the 54RI and 1993+. Some more to go yet.
Stopped by the music store yesterday PM. The got in a Squire CV 50s Pbass. Been looking for one for years but weight was always an issue (9.5lbs +). Picked it up, felt light. Took it in back to the scale , yep right around 8.25 lbs. Snagged it with a soft case.
Oddly, when I visited Sweetwater back in December I targeted on 5 instruments. Decided a 12 string bass is not for me. A D-28 Authentic doesn?t do anything or sound better than my 71 D-28. The other 3 I tried I have found either now in my target weight or at great savings within this year.

Wow, just got in the door from the third time blowing snow in 24 hours. This is more than I used the snow blower during the entire winter last year. It is also the third time I’m drying out my shirt and jacket from sweat. I just hate it when the plows come through after I get everything dug out for church on Sunday morning and you come home to a big berm across the driveway again.
Hope all have a great week.

I always clear the road a good 100 feet to the left when I'm done with the driveway.
A 6 to 8 foot wide swatch does the business.
When the plow comes by, it will run out of snow behind the blade before it gets to your driveway. Works the charm!

TB, I have corner lot with 100+ feet of sidewalk (and road) to the north of me, and 100+ feet of sidewalk (and road) to the west of me. I clear out the street in front of my driveway (and the roadway/curbing on my side of the road) and the approach to it but I still get buried by the plow..

i forgot to post yesterday, in large part to the 5.5 hours of snowblowing and shoveling I did, and will have to do again today in a frozen tundra. We got about 9 inches of snow overnight then yesterday turned to rain and sleet for the whole day. I will probably have to go buy gas for the snowblower today and try to chisel some semblance of our driveway back. The last two storms have been drenchers. I had to dry my clothes twice yesterday. I put my car out in the street and bro's GF came over and took my spot. While they dithered on whether or not to go to her place, the plow came. I could move my car into the driveway but now the berm was 12 feet out in the road. It was still sleeting like hell and I heard a plow again around 830 that night. I wasn't going to go out for a fourth time.
