The Sunday Thread for February 11, 2024
It's been unseasonably warm here this weekend, but snow is still threatened for later in the week. A person I was talking to said that the Farmer's Almanac indicated that we shouldn't get too comfortable (no matter what Punxsutawney Phil says) and that we're in for a cold, harsh March. I can barely wait. :(
But I washed the cars yesterday, and took the opportunity to get a lot of walking done. Today is Super Bowl Sunday (I almost forgot!). I'll attend church, maybe grab a bite of lunch and then hunker down for the rest of the day and tune in the game.
Stay well, stay happy, everyone!

Re: The Sunday Thread for February 11, 2024
There are only three or four of you who start the Sunday Threads. Why not coordinate? A takes the first Sunday of the month, B takes the second, etc...

Re: The Sunday Thread for February 11, 2024
I'll step down from being a Sunday thread starter. I'm now retired and don't want any unnecessary responsibility.

Nah, you're a thread-startin' star. You have to be the one some days. It's tradition now.

Traditionally it was Gibsonjunkie's job until others jumped in.

Re: The Sunday Thread for February 11, 2024
If I log in and it isn't done yet, I'll do it.
If someone else does it first - that's great! I think that has worked for us all along - no need to change anything.
Frankly, I wish I could sleep late on Sunday, but my brain says ""Wake Up!" every day around 5 - 5:30, even on weekends.

Re: The Sunday Thread for February 11, 2024
I have not wanted to create any friction. I started creating Sunday threads when I too, woke early and then didn't see one for a while. I simply wanted to keep a tradition alive. I don't claim to "own" the job, I've just tried to help keep the sense of community going. We've had our ups and downs here, and I want TFF to stick around!

Sunday threads were one of the reasons I fell in love with this place. I see no reason to overthink them or criticize anyone over them: just keep them coming

We're just teasing Nick a little bit! We all go back many years. It's what we do, LOL!

Re: The Sunday Thread for February 11, 2024
I propose that we appoint a committee, 3 of whom are on the board, 3 of whom are just bored. Then we'll make a motion for subcommittee to decide on the Sunday morning thread's ability to post itself, after which, we'll appoint another subcommittee to determine if the regular committee is suitable for more thread constructions.
Don't mind me. I had to write an article about a board meeting that's full of good folks--who are so passive, slow, and pie-in-the-ski that I felt the need to help them. And I did. Bless their little hearts.

Sir, that is an insult to incompetent buffoons everywhere.

Re: The Sunday Thread for February 11, 2024
I'll have you know that I've been incompetent since the Kennedy administration (born in 62).
Remember the book, the Peter Principle? Everyone rises to their own level of incompetence. Folks get jobs, then a promotion and another until they reach a position in which they're incompetent. That was me when I got promoted from a fetus to a baby.

Oh man, it looks like we're about to revisit a place I had long ago identified as "The BoZone."
A place run by Bozos who have no common sense and limited intellectual skills.
A place where nothing makes sense and chaos rules! Get out while you still can!
