I just bought the black 40th AV Precision Bass at Musiciansfriend
They knocked $50 off the internet price of $389. I confirmed that they had these in factory sealed cartons at their Lenexa, KS, warehouse. Klaus L. said they had 58 of them!
The Lake Placid Blue version is listed online at $299. I suspect a chat or phone call to MF will reduce that price even further.
The new guitars and basses from Squier are so good these days, the only reason not to buy one is if you are a brand snob!
The new one will be here tomottow and based on two other Squier Precision Bass guitars I've bought this year, I predict it, too, is going to be fantastic.
I bought one of these Squier Classic Vibe FSR Sonic Blue Precisions with matching headstock at Guitar Center earlier this year when they were introduced at $359. What an incredible deal that was/is. Here's a pic from GC's website:

Then, when ProAudioStar was having a sale, I got one of these Classic Vibes for $199. Didn't really need it but it was such a deal I could not resist. And while it was advertised as "open box" it arrived in a factory sealed carton. Here's a pic from the PAS website:

Both of these basses arrived with a perfect setup. I have more expensive bass guitars, but Squier has won me over with their quality and value. I can't see paying more money, unless you have to have a Fender!

I'm a sucker for Oly White with tortoise-shell trim, Bobbie.
Can't wait to see the new one in LPB!

I've never felt drawn to Lake Placid Blue. Sigh.

I'm betting Squier's sold more basses this past year than ever before!
