How to shadow frets like the custom shop?

Does anyone know how the custom shop gets that fret shadow on the blackguards they make? Thanks

If you mean the dark area on both sides of the frets?
In real life, its caused by soldering iron heating up frets and several fret changes.
You COULD try this, but requires control and careful heating.
