Co-hosted an open mic, last night
Haven't done this in a long time and it was fun.
A couple seriously good players showed up and I had the chance to play with both of them. Good times. It's so amazing how good players force you to elevate your game, and make it easy at the same time!
There were lots of klinkers in attendance as well. Good natured souls who got up there and enjoyed a shot at playing for an audience.
Had a real nice time. Looking forward to the next one.

For two years I ran a Thursday evening open Mike/jam session that proved to be a very good time with many really great players sitting in. We had complete bands sit in and some individual players that drove up to three hours (one way) to sit in. Unfortunately COVID shut us down and when I wanted to start it up again my guitar player/main vocalist was no longer able to perform due to interstitial lung disease and is now in hospice.

Wow. So sad to hear about your friend and the demise of a great open mic.
I played in an open mic host band for a number of years and really enjoyed. Taught me to be fearless to get on stage with anyone. Not because I think I'm THAT good, but because I have learned the fine art of knowing when to sit out! LOL. If you don't know the part, just wiggle your hands a bit with your guitar volume off. That is every bit as professional as anything else you do.
There's nothing like the community spirit that comes out of a good open. I have always enjoyed it.

Love a good jam! We had a great group of players for this set ladt week. Awesome player Diamond Jim Greene relocated here from Chicago and joined us for the first time.

Nothing like a good harp player to keep a jam going, lol!

Yep great player great singer too.

Wow. A harp player that actually gets it!
Great feel between the bass and the drums too. Laid back, in the groove, and creating the perfect pallet to write on. Nice job!
