JV & SQ squire Telecaster

I have a black JV Squire tele with a stamped "JV" serial number on the bridge plate,but a stamped "SQ" serial number on the neck plate.Is this normal?,or is it a "bitsa"!.Can anyone comment?.I've known the guitar since the late 80's.
