A couple guitar projects I recently completed:

On the left- a USACG vintage-style Strat neck on an alder body I made from a two-piece blank. The pickups are Fender Custom Shop '54s. It weighs in a little under 7.5 lbs.
On the right, an Allparts maple neck (SRO-FAT) on a Fender Custom Shop ash body. The body is very lightweight, just a skosh over 4 lbs. The neck is is 1" thick flamed maple & pushes the weight of the whole guitar to about 7.75 lbs. The flame is more apparent in-hand; I'd call it AA but I'm no expert. The current set of pickups are '59s, but I don't imagine they are going to stay in the guitar.
Common to both guitars are the American Original bridge/tremolo assemblies, CTS pots, & CRL 5-way switches. All wired up using the cloth "push-back" wire (I guess its called "Gavitt" wire, I never knew that) & various bits & pieces for hardware (strap buttons, neck plates, jacks, etc.).
All & all a lot of fun. The alder body Strat used to be Fiesta Red but it was so poor I had to redo it. I refinished it in some sort of Dupli-Color green that was supposed to be like a British Racing Green but is actually way darker. Still looks pretty good w/the gold anodized aluminum 'guard. I have nearly pulled the trigger on a Sherwood Green Strat a number of times, but there's always something that puts the kibosh on the deal. These days, it's shipping from Japan that's the deal-killer. Costly, and with the supply chain issue these days, probably a long time coming.

It is even more pleasing in hand. It's not "flip-flop" paint, but sometimes it looks charcoal, sometimes blue, & sometimes dark green. A lot of people comment on it, & have to say that while it didn't turn out like I expected, it has grown on me

Love that BRG Strat with the gold anodized pickguard. That one is very unique. I like the other one, too, but it can get lost in a crowd as there are a bunch that look just like it.

That's kind of what I was going for, I guess? I know that guitars in that style (maple neck, 2-tone 'burst) are a dime a dozen, but I wanted a sleeper: super light w/custom electronics & neck dimensions but at first glance appearing ordinary. Additionally, the neck is very flamey.
On the other hand, the BRG Strat is probably the best playing & sounding Strat I own at the moment, & that's saying a lot because I own a bunch of strats right now

Next up on the bench: An alder body in some kind of fake Shoreline Gold. I think it is actually Sunset Gold from Dupli-Color. It has already begun to check. The tortoise 'guard is from WD, & I purchased it on Roger's (phantomman) recommendation. It's funny, a long time ago it was said that WD stood for Wrong Dimensions, lol. But the photo can't do justice to the 3-D effect that tortoise gives. It looks great. This one is going to get a fat maple neck w/a rosewood fingerboard:

That has not yet been determined. That might be the last decision I make with this one.

I'm certain it will sound as good as it looks regardless of your choice.
