Wall Hanger For My Sister
As a decoration for the rec room this thing didn't turn out half bad. Body and neck are aftermarket while the hardware and electronics are leftover MIM Fender parts. I personalized the instrument by formatting the period-correct serial number as Carol's birthday. The guitar looks the part, plays well, and sounds reasonably authentic.

Could have fooled me (that it wasn't authentic). I favor blond maple necks, but what do I know?
:appl:
Re: Wall Hanger For My Sister
A maple fretboard was favored but I couldn't find one at my price point.

Excellent job. And I’ve said, it’s a kind gesture. Love my sister so much also. She’d kill me if I gave her something more to dust. Lol
Re: Wall Hanger For My Sister
She's not exactly a neatnik (like our mother was) so I doubt that'll be an issue.
Re: Wall Hanger For My Sister
If I may ask, where did you get the neck plate w/the custom number? I'd like to get one for my '55 Strat project
Re: Wall Hanger For My Sister
Ron Kirn Custom Guitars -- Jacksonville, Florida (via Ebay). I think he has a website.
Re: Wall Hanger For My Sister
Thanks, I'll look into that when the time comes. Everything I've heard about Ron Kirn is good
Re: Wall Hanger For My Sister
When I started assembling my own custom guitars back in 2007 he was one of the first vendors I found on Ebay who seemed to know what he was doing. He's stamped around twenty neck plates for me.
Re: Wall Hanger For My Sister
Found him on eBay. He sells two kinds of neck plates: modern, & vintage. He claims vintage plates are thinner than modern. That's a detail I've never noticed
