Does anyone know the story behind this model, built in the 1990s? They all seem to carry s/n FN2xxxxx whether its 1992, 1993, etc up until 1998 (I think). I heard somewhere that they were supposed to be exported but weren't (so what). Thank you in advance.

You are right. FN2 serial number was used from 1992 to 1998 on this guitar, the Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster, and on the very first Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster HSS, also called Strat Special HSS, that replaced the Flòyd Rose Classic Stratocaster.Quote:

Ordered on phone from Rockbottom in West Croydon, UK as they provided a decent price reduction. Setup by them after myself opening box in the shop [left them to get on with it as my playing very dodgy back then [some would say still is]]

Never been in a shop since purchase [guitar not myself] so should be exactly as supplied new from Fender, in fact apart from being stored at parents house for awhile not outside my home unless with myself. Finally changed the original strap now though [in photo is original] as backing plastic on it started to disintegrate after around 24 years.

Would it still get purchased today if for sale new exactly as previous specifications and parts? You bet, in fact provided having the money to do so if they sold these again as original parts and specifications would purchase at least one more, maybe two. Never regretted this purchase.

Today whilst doing a search on another Fender guitar using their serial number lookup and comparing it's scratch plate electronics to my Floyd Rose Classic using my guitars serial number lookup also it was noticed by myself that there are discrepancies both at Fender and on Fuzzfaced if you do not look carefully.
On Fuzzfaced there are two version of the Fender Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster, but only if you read carefully and follow a link. The link is on the COMMENTS section and is hi-lighted in a brown colour of the model name.

My own is the latter version in some ways only
Differences are to the wiring, a TBX in tone 2 [lower] and the versions differ by what tone pot controls to each pickup.
Suspect by wiring diagrams online at Fender the the Special 5 way pickup selector differs also, version one may be a 5 way Super switch P/N# 0992251000 [not in my guitar but shows in the service manual diagrams to be the fitted one].
That said my guitar has changed in tone since a person stayed over for 2 nights sleeping in another room and was noticed the first occasion of playing it after they left.
Fender switched from fitting Dimarzio Custom PAF Pro Humbucker to the bridge to a Fender DH-1 Humbucker too at some point.
The single coils also changed from American Standards to American Strat Single Coils.
On the headstock the original version displays Classic Floyd Rose Series and serial FN to reverse
Heel plate may be stamped Corona instead of just Fender
Mine seems to be at the point where they swapped between them with a mix of the parts fitted, fortunate to have the Dimarzio Humbucker though.
Doing a search using Fender serial number lookup though using the correct serial to mine shows as the first version although the TBX which was fitted states it is not that version and the wiring differs. As to the special switch, no idea if what is in there is what was supposed to be although it has never been left anywhere except my own home or at my parents stored for a period of time. Unless it was interfered with by a house guest whilst myself sleeping in a differing room then it is as supplied, it bothers myself though it now sounds different since they stayed over for a couple of nights to the point have looked to see why.

Fenders Serial Lookup on my guitar which also shows the issue of the missing TBX tone pot and the tone pot wiring differences. The Special 5 way switch which apparently is no longer available fitted to my guitar have no idea on but is not the Super Switch inside there.

Should have added the following information to the thread.
Sold new two booklets come with the guitar
Fender Specifications for guitars and basses booklet - which lists all models and their parts in brief
Fender Owners Manual for guitars and basses booklet
An image of the one supplied with my own guitar and it's hang tag is here linked below - It clearly states it's model and that it has a TBX Tone control fitted, information that does not readily appear elsewhere as the list the tone control as a normal version [which can be seen by reading the Controls section on this 2nd linked image].
It should be noted also that contacting Fender USA [as done by myself on 3 occasions a few years ago following the persons stay at my home and subsequent guitar sound change] they do not supply the Service Manual for the 110 - 6000 Rosewood/110 - 6002 Maple only the 110 - 6500 - Rosewood/110 - 6502 - Maple Service Manual stating they are the same which clearly they are not. At the time of writing to them images of my scratch plate, the hang tags and my purchase receipts from the store which imported it into the UK were all provided to Fender so they were well aware the guitar was bought new by myself and asked about the differances between my scratchplate electronics and those on their Service Manuals.
