Kinda NGD
Ladies and Gentlemen: I present to you the Clapmour Blekky.
You have probably seen the pics of the neck to this guitar. It was a lot worse that it is now. I sanded off as much of it as I could before I put poly on the fingerboard. It might look like crap, but it's a 93 AmStd neck that plays like a dream. It's been sitting in my music room for 16 years--didn't even need to do a truss rod adjustment. I don't remember the neck being that great on the 96 AmStd I had, but this one is meaty enough and feels just as good as my 2008 AmStd neck.
The body is a Player Strat body, nothing wrong with the wood or paint. I put a Starr wiring harness in it, so I didn't have to fiddle with the stock electronics. And a good thing because it was a cheap pile-o-poo--just like the saddles which feel like chrome coated model car parts. I'll replace those eventually.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but the trem block is double the thickness of the one in my 2008.
Bottom line: The Duncan SSL-5s I put in it are such a wonderful contrast to the 57/62s I have in my sunburst Strat. In short, this guitar fucking rocks.
And here it is with my other project--which I love now more than even my P which is awesome. The P used to be the dream sounding bass, and mine was my number one for a couple of years when I was playing live. Jazz Bs I liked, but not loved. But I've changed my tune, so to speak. I love this bass.

Looks great, Willie! I have a hard time seeing the color in these photos. It doesn't look like ebony/black, so what is it? Or is it a trick of photography?

Re: Kinda NGD
It must just be the photography. Both bodies are just the regular old Fender black. My ocd hates it that the pickguards don't match, but I wouldn't want a black one on the JB or a white one on the Strat.
