What strings come standard on the new Mustang PJ bass? What options are available in the aftermarket?
I'm not familiar with that model but if I'm not mistaken, they're probably round wounds Fender branded strings that I think they put on all their basses.
This is a short scale bass with over the top bridge and I want to know if any manufacturers set of short scale strings will work as well as what gauge the bass comes standard from FENDER with.Quote:

I'm a flats guy - they make Short scale flats, I have a set on my P Jr.

My favorite flats are the Thomastic Infeld JF-344 strings. Lower tension - higher cost.
I found them on Amazon around $65 or so. I have three sets on basses, 13 and 14 years old.
I like Chromes though - they last a long while and sound good. I havent' had any issues on the necks myself.
