Farewell Gig
Well, my band is playing tonight at a 3 day festival in Jackson, TN. It looks like this may be our final gig, and if so, I want it to be a great gig.
I feel sad about the band but happy about playing the festival. Not quite bittersweet, more like "Yay / Oh shit."
Oh well, gotta rock, gotta get into it like we're not lame ducks.

Re: Farewell Gig
Thanks, guys. I plan on having a fun time no matter what. This may be my last gig before starting a new band. I do a few solos, enough for me--too busy trying to remember the damned lyrics!

Re: Farewell Gig
The gig went really well. There were some really good bands yesterday, and we held our own. I had a logical epiphany after watching all these bands. We were the only cover band, and I realized that I'm through playing covers in a band. I've done it for so many years, and I'm almost 53 years old. I don't want to do other peoples' songs anymore.
So I'm going to spend the next couple of months writing songs and coming up with a concept for a performance. I finished the draft of a novel a few months ago. I have to revise and edit it, and I'll be using that material for the content of my musical piece.
I'll probably team up with our drummer for recording. He's 21 years old, a bit like a little banty rooster, but a good guy and a master drummer who's excited about playing and about learning what he doesn't yet know.
I'm glad that Bellend ended with a bang and not a whimper.
