Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?

I recently moved to helsinki, and i had this small gig at a party. Was planning on just taking my strymon timeline for some looping action and the good delay and an overdrive pedal. I thought i had packed my fulldrive or atleast my box of rock somewhere. But i didn't think to look for it untill the day before the gig....
So yeah, all my overdrive and distortionpedals were back in sweden.
In panic i went downtown to pick up something that would work, a bit irritated since i already have some good and not so cheap pedals. I found this thing on the shelf for 29€! Thats about $37.
Tried it out and i was actually suprised at how well it sounded. Bought it an went home. Some research showed that it's a total clone of the old TS808, with the same jrcchip as well. So i got a really good ts808clone, with a small box and true bypass for 29€. I'm so happy, it was even a new battery included in the box!
Thomann buys and rebrands these as their harley benton series.
Anyway the pedal did it's job great, the 4 song gig turned out to be a few hours long with lots of requests and on the spot learning songs. Good old time!
Here's a picture with me and a guest singer :)

Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
500 views and no replys? I thought i would get a snyde remark about my almost bursting shirt, something half-creepy about the girl, or at the very least som knocking about the chinese made pedal i like ;)
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
I've never tried the pedal. It looks cool.
Your rig looks nice. Looks like you and the girl are having fun.
What's the other pedal?
And - just so you're not disappointed...
I WISH I HAD A PRETTY GIRL in a Captain & Tennille hat with a short dress sitting on MY AMP! :D

I'm interested in this pedal for that reason!
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
The other pedal is the Strymon Timeline, really cool delay machine, and looper, helps filling out when it's just me and one or two other guys/gals doing some light gigging :)
check it out, kinda gimmicky, but i like it!

Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
And thanks for liking my setup, it's all thanks/blame to you guys ;), used to be a 4x4 ibanez slinging kid, i actually had a deluxe hot rod but after reading a while here i sold it and got the DRRI instead, and now i gig mostly with that and an overdrive pedal. The guitar is a classic players 50's. Love it!
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
If you guys wanted smoking hot girls to sing to you, you should have gone into the jingle business. :D
And I didn't notice your shirt. It's the area between your socks and your high-water pants that concerns me!
(How'd I do?)
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
By the way, I might be wierd but ankle bracelets and painted toenails on a woman just kill me. I'm helpless to resist.
Belly button rings? Forget it - you had me at "Hello, there's a piercing..."
But only on women. On a guy, any of those things is just wrong.
Ima :da
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
Haha, it was 30C/86F in the shade that day. Might not be much for some of you, but to man from the mountains in northern part of sweden? I need them 3/4pants :D
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
Sounds like a cool pedal, I personally don't understand why it took so long for a company to do this. I mean, most booteek OD's are modded 808s... So how hard is it (really?) for an overseas manufacturer to clone it and add some newer features to bring it into the 21St century? Not too hard.
Rant over. Glad you're liking your pedal, and thanx for the heads up! Keep on RAWKIN' buddy!
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
You know, after all these years I think you need to match the pedal with the amp. I have some that sound really nice with mr DRRI but don't work with my C30, and conversely. The main thing is if you dig it it's good. But the cool thing is that today we have so many options that it's a sure bet you can find the one that works for you.
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
Exactly! I'm right there with ya. I don't use a TS right now because my modded SD1 sounds so good to my ears. I'm using that on one pedalboard and an early FDII on my other board. I know they are TS derivatives, but even so, they don't sound "tubescreamery" to my ears. I also don't run them like a TS. Does that make any sense?
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
Screw that... those socks are what make the picture!!!!
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
Bearwolf, ignore the critics...you were the one with the hot singer giving you googoo eyes! I'm jealous!
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
Muskrat Love! LOL I'm just giving you a hard time buddy. :D
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
I bought one today from www.cheaperpedals.com
After playing my Teles thru my various amps I came to realize that I missed having a TS. Yes, I have a FDII, but that'll stay on my church board.
Re: Anyone tried the Joyo vintage overdrive?
It should be here Wednesday or Thursday. I'm excited.
