Help pedal board!

Hi Hope to post and get some ideas

New to pedal board as I never really used many effects

I was given a nice small p board for free and bought the power cable and DC supply and all works good

My problem is: what is the best way to fix the pedals to the board?

Tried hardware store velcro but did not take the little rubber feet off the pedals. Needles to say the clearance caused the velcro to not stick.

the surface of the board is covered in a kind of black fuzzy material non skid kind of stuff
I guess i can take the rubber feet off but hesitate on the wah is they hold the back plate onto the unit.

Suggestions?????

You should be able to push the screws out of the feet on the wah. Typically if there are screw-on feet on a pedal, I stick them in a baggie, and place it in the battery compartment so I don't lose them.

I'd recommend against just velcro-ing the Wah onto the board...I bought four very slim mending plates for my wah, 1x2 (2 holes) - removed the screws with the rubber feet; replaced the screws by screwing on the mending plates so they stuck out the four corners; and used wood screws to screw 'em to the board. The wah is too heavy for velcro...

Mending plates are little rectangular metal pieces that have 2 holes. they look like the smallest pieces of the old Erector sets.

I can't play my wah on my board. The board raises it just high enough that it's awkward.

I store my wah loose on my pedal board with long enough power and audio cords that I can place it next to the pedal board when I play.

A lot of people do that. A wah also eats a log of board space.

In general wahs have such low current requirements (1 or 2mA) that it's not really worthwhile to even power them externally. Even plugged in they don't really run down a battery all that much faster than they die of their own accord.

I did that for a number of years also. It sat just next to the board. It seemed to work just fine and the bonus was the darned pedalboard was lighter. :)

The wah I can drill holes and screw down into the board its only on there because of my layout.

the other 2 pedals are double size by visual sound i guess i can pop the rubber feet off or use high stick tape too

You'll have to google it but I bought a new bottom plate and shorter screws for my Dunlop wah that eliminated the rubber feet. It has been mounted with velcro on my current board for the last 5 years without a problem. I don't recall what I paid but it wasn't much. I've had great success with velcro on my board but you do have to remove the rubber and/or feet from the bottom of effects which many don't wish to do because of resale. Just my 2 cents.

I don't use Velcro, but my board is finished wood... Mine don't move at all on the board. They are stuck on really good with the goop I use.

I still carry mine loose inside the pedalboard so I don't have the benefit of lighter weight or board space.:wah:

I guess i will remove the feet and go from there

Just save em if u ever go to sell em just glue the feet back on

I drilled 2 holes on either side of the wah on my pedal board and used zip ties to hold it in place. You could keep the feet on this way.

3M Dual Loc

I'm trying to figure out how I'd like to mount my new TC Flashback X4 to my board. I have plenty of real estate, but since the pedal is kind of big I'd prefer to not use Velcro...

I have those little "mounting widgets" that you screw into the bottom of the pedal using the existing screws, but the existing screws are recessed, so that's out (unless I go to the hardware store and find replacements that are the same thread only longer...might have to do that...) and the other option is zip-ties through the board. However, that seems like it would mar up the finish on the X4 and since it's new I'd like to avoid modifying it in any way or voiding the warranty.

By the way, I spent about 1/2 hour playing the FB-X4 last night with my Strat thru my Vox and I was in "The Edge" heaven! The 2290 delay with modulation gets me so close to the cascading U2 delay sound. And the fidelity is incredible.

After a few weeks of using it, I'll put up a detailed review...for now, though, if anyone has any ideas on mounting, I'd love to hear 'em. Thanks!

My last pedalboard (made by me, with wood) I bored holes for the feet of the wah so that the feet were still on but it didn't sit higher. This also meant that the feet held it in position in addition to the velcro.
