I put them in my '88 MIJ,and played straight into a vintage 5E3...I added a little reverb on the mix.The tone is very smooth with nice snap---they transformed this guitar.

Yeah! Sounds AWESOME!!!
And sweet playing, Refin. You've got no reason to say "be kind". That was beautiful.

Dude, if I thought I could make those pickups sound like that, I'd buy a set today.
Re: New Zhangliqun "Strele" Strat Pups Clip
Well thanks guys...:Embarrass ....just trying out different settings, nothing special.
I compared them to 2 other strats in the room and could see that
these models have a unique personality.David says that no cover and flatpole design (alnico mags) is what does it----he is the genius,I'm just the awed.
Re: New Zhangliqun "Strele" Strat Pups Clip
I don't understand how the lack of a cover can have a significant effect. We're talking about a plastic cover doing something undesirable to a magnetic field???
Re: New Zhangliqun "Strele" Strat Pups Clip
Maybe it's because the flat poles are flush withe the top of the coil. The coil itself ends up closer to the strings.

They do sounds great! So does the playing!
Re: New Zhangliqun "Strele" Strat Pups Clip
Well thanks again,guys...
what I like about David's winds is that he is not interested in EXACTLY recreating vintage stuff, but taking the best examples and improving them.
