IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa City man has been charged with assault after getting into a broom fight with a woman. The Johnson County sheriff's office said the fight began when a 54-year-old man was awakened early Tuesday by a woman cleaning the house.

Authorities said an argument between the two escalated into a fight, with the man pushing the woman and hitting her with a broom handle, causing minor cuts. The woman grabbed a broom to defend herself, striking the man on the head, causing a bump.

Investigators determined the man was the primary aggressor in the assault. He was charged with domestic abuse assault without intent, causing injury.

Good thing this was in Iowa! If it had been in West Virginia, once they had swept together, the Judge would have forced them to get married.

That woman could really clean up in a court settlement.

She's got her own troubles. She was charged with breaking and entering with intent to tidy.

That dude was probably bristling with anger.
