You all know I love my Gibson guitars, but this might just push me over the edge. What an ugly piece if %$#$!

Don't worry Nick, there is only a slight upcharge for the plywood top.
another one I won't be purchasing
It's cool dudes!
Whoa!
Looks something a really disgruntled Alembic employee would do.
It looks like one could play some sweet licks on that thing.
I clicked on the other color schemes, and surprisingly, Rainbow is the best looking of the lot. It's sort of Fool-esque, or maybe Fool-ish?
Right on Neo, that was my first impression. Like a Clapton signature gone horribly wrong.

I kinda like it. I wouldn't get one but I don't think it's horrific. I like that they're pushing the boundaries. How many more cherry red SG's does the world need?
Reminds me of those nasty "Nixon Now" pins they had for the '72 election that sort of looked like an oil slick.
See, it's not so bad, now, is it?
Maybe guitars are more like shoes than we'd like to admit. :wah:

I kinda like the black and white one
The red pickup selector ruins it.
(The B&W one would get some serious play time with me though, admittedly I do own this; http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...g?t=1249057874)
After looking at it for awhile...I'm tolerating it...now I use to it...
well...kinda liking it now...whimsical and fun colors
Too much for a plywood solid body, IMO.
Bet it's bright as the sun, too....
Only Gibson could charge $1,200 for a plywood guitar!
That lengthwise laminated heastock looks a bit iffy to me - on a guitar design that is renown for broken headstocks in the first place.
There needs to be some Drug Testin' done at Gibson... Somebody has 'crossed the line'...
Thats the ugly-est POS I've ever seen by a Factory Guitar maker... Hey, some fools will buy it anyway...
guess it's time to fire up the bus and take a "magical mystery tour".
It's growing on me.
Is it wrong that I actually dig the pickups?
And the rainbow one just looked bad to me before. But now it makes me think about the Fool guitar and I hate it less.
I still wouldn't buy it, though. But I might buy the pivkups for a project.
I wish I could find a beat-up SG for next to nothin' and get someone to refin it with The Fool paintjob.
If I dressed up like Spiderman for a Halloween gig, this one would be cool:

LOL Franklin
Hokay. As a history buff I can appreciate "The Fool" for its place in history. Likewise, "Rocky", Jimi's MPF Strat, Lennon's sand-blasted Casino, EVH's "Frankenstrat", etc. An' I can unnerstan' that a well-executed clone of same would appeal to many -- p'raps even myseff.
But I'm gonna be the contrarian here regarding those LSD-inspired SGs......they look like raw fookin' ASS to me.
Roast me or toast me, I don't friggin' care.
:couch
Just remember, it's not plywood.
Not plywood.
It's -repeat after me- "built with multiple birch wood laminate pieces (each one approximately .075” thick), each dyed with a different color then compressed and bonded together to form one solid block of wood. No paint is used. Each body is given two coats of satin nitrocellulose lacquer."
That's right, just two coats of nitro.
Thin skin THAT, Fender!
Rickenjangle: Here ya go.
Epiphool
But, of course, it's probably not thin nitro. :D
I think the copper somehow clashes with the black and white.
On that guitar, the black clashes with the black!
That lollipop looking one does make me smile.
No doubt about it.
But let's get one thing straight- if I'm smilin', I'm not rockin', and if I'm rockin' I'm not smilin'.
I was wondering about that, too. My best guess is a missing pickguard screw....
I hate them...:332:
