Got Jazz Bass......?

Well the '66 clone for my brother is done -- all that's left is to deliver it next month when we journey out to the "workers' paradise" on the left coast for our annual vacation.

I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out......like Doug and Tony walkin' into "The Time Tunnel" an' settin' the knob for 1966. Now all I gotta do is build one for myseff.

Allparts neck on a MIM '60s re-issue body (has correct rout for the neck pickup). All the hardware is Fender-US, with the '62 re-issue pickup set. The tunahs started out as stock Fender-Schaller shamrocks, then hand-massaged to the rare "paddle" configuration by an acquaintance up in Anchorage. The "neat headstock accessory" came from my secret contact out on the East Coast. I brought the whole thang in (to include a period-correct black Tolex G&G case) for about a third of what a well-known custom shop in SoCal coulda done it for.

jazz necks with the large block pearl inlays.

When my brother an' I were punks back in the mid-60s the Fender Jazz Bass (an' the EB-3L) were the Cadillacs. We always thought the tuxedo necks were the paradigm of tres kewl. Prolly the only decent thang that CBS ever done while drivin' the Fender bus......

I love my Jazz Bass, but it's black with a white pickguard like Coldsteel2's.

To me, a real Jazz Bass is sunburst with a tortoise guard. The block inlays and neck binding are icing on the cake!

My first Jazz Bass was a 62 sunburst, before they had
the large block inlays, i really loved that bass, but we
had a head on collsion in our band van with a car and
it went to splinters, my next Jazz was a 71 black with
large inlays, i broke some rules with it and did some
surgery on the pickups(blasheme these days)
after these jazz's i went to P-basses for almost 15 years and missed
the old jazz's alot

I see that Kasino bass amp behind you in pic #1!
A good friend of mine used to have 2 of the 2-15" combos (tallest combo I've ever seen) and would bring them both to jam sessions---wow.

Yea, we got them all the way accross, they were
a great sounding amp for the price, i put JBL's in
it after the first year i had it.
Made by Kustom, i guess people were complaining
about the Tuck And roll hurting the sales of thier
regular Kustom amps and went to that style. Dont think
they made them very long, i got mine in 69.
My brother had the double 4x12" amp for guitar
our other guitarist had the 8 10" cab amp
