Album in the can, release show coming up.
The woman I've been playing with has just wrapped up her second CD and we'll be doing a release party at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach at the end of this month.
It was a fun project to work on, though time and money ran out so two of the more rock sounding of her songs got dropped and the balance shifted over to much more of her "country" sounding stuff. There is some amazing mando, banjo and fiddle on there from Dennis Caplinger who was quite good on the Clapton/Cale "Road to Escondido".
Here's a taste with me on electric guitars (with a touch of baritone) and backing vocals.
(someone went crazy on the compressors on my guitar, too...)

Well, that must feel pretty great! (Although I agree, too much compression on your guitar, not enough on her vocal. :D)
Congratulations.

GJ,
There is so much I don't like about the production (or lack of). I wish I could have sat in on the mixing/post.
Re: Album in the can, release show coming up.
Yeah, I mean, geez... was the mixer actually afraid of that baritone lick? :D
But hey, perfect or imperfect, it's a real accomplishment. I'll never make my record.
Re: Album in the can, release show coming up.
I'll probably never make my record either. This ain't my record so I backed off. The drummer and singer/writer (a couple now) produced it.
That should explain that.
I did do the package, though.
It's her project and is mainly a demo for her to sell songs. She is a talented writer, and the track I put up is the only one she didn't write.
Re: Album in the can, release show coming up.
I like it a lot. Love your playing--extremely tasty and dead on in the genre.
Enjoy her voice too--I smiled every time she hit that major diphthong on "everrrr".
Re: Album in the can, release show coming up.
Nice.:dude
Sounds like some fun stuff to play.
It really does sound like they're trying to hide the baritone.
Re: Album in the can, release show coming up.
The CD manufacturing was stopped pending a fix of the "production". Besides the mix, there were technical issues bad enough that the studio is fixing it for free.

Oh, the show info is here:

The Slidewinders are pretty good. A few of the songs have Alex Watts from that band playing Tele.
We will be doing a show at Pappy and Harriet's next Saturday (22nd) with them.

Sounds great----you play really nice!
Re: Album in the can, release show coming up.
Thanks.
(I won't be at the Pappy and Harriet's gig...)
