Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
I like the Coiled type cables for the reason, primarily, that you can use them in your living room while practicing and they dont get stepped on and tripped up over all over the room like a 20 foot straight cord. You can extend them to walk over and pick up the phone or even an eggroll out of the Microwave.. hahah. BUT.. I dont think they Make them very good qualty like they used to back in the stoneage when i first bought one that finally petered out on me while back. Does anyone know of a fine qaulity coiled cord being manufactured? HERES the best one i could find on online auction, and the quality is marginal...http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=002

I'm also a big fan of the coiled cables. Here's the one I'm going to buy eventually:

Re: Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
I haven't used a coiled cable since an engineer in Wally Heider's studio told me I should just use straight cables.
Re: Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
Thanks for the tip. Bullet cables look like a decent product, maybe not as thick as some of the older telephone wire cables.Yea, I was looking at some bullet cables , when i ran across THIS crazy Sparkplug cable made by Bullet;

This month's GP has a (too) lengthy review of Fender's Koil Kables that made me all nostalgic and tempted.
I haven't used one since the 70s... :stan:
Re: Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
I saw one the other day on the LavaCables site.

I picked up a 15 foot Fender Koil Kable the other day. Mostly out of rememberance from the past - all the guitar cables where coiled when I started to play 35 years ago. But, it sounded muted in tone and not as loud as my others. This is an '88 Strat Plus with new strings into a new DRRI. I was disappointed. It also made crackling noise when the part of the cable near the guitar end bent from moving around (and not only do coiled cables move around a lot more than straight cables because they are coiled, but also because they have more mass per unit length). I returned it the next day.
Re: Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
How long is a 15 foot coiled cable when it's stretched out?
I would imagine that it would take a really high quality cable or really bad ears for there not to be a noticeable difference in tone!
Re: Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
How much water can a 1 gallon bucket hold? :ha
Re: Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
Is a coiled 15 foot cable 15 feet long in it's relaxed state or when it's stretched out?
I assumed that it was a much longer cable that was coiled up to be 15 feet long in its relaxed state.
Re: Best Coiled Guitar Cable?
A 15" ft cable coiled up can be 15 INCHES long How did you miss that one? It's the 20" cables that confuse me.
