I just got a '59 Custom Shop Strat with one of those Mint Green pickguards. I find it a little too dark for my liking and was wondering if anyone ever tried to lighten one of these pickguards(chemicals, sanding, etc.) without resorting to getting a new white pickguard with only a mild greeenish tint(as found on the '62 Vintage reissue and American Deluxe models).
