Looking for this strat effect...
I realize that the sound Gary Moore gets from his Strat is most likely from all of the Fender and Marshall combos, cabs, and heads in the background, but I was wondering what type of pedal I could buy to get a sound like this.
His tone is literally music to my ears.
Check out his performance too, he's a great player.

Re: Looking for this strat effect...
I would guess the Ibanez Tube Screamer. (SRV used this as well along with Marshall and Fender combos)
Also keep in mind the gutar strings. I believe he uses Dean Markleys
.10 - .52.
Re: Looking for this strat effect...
I thought Gary played strickly Les Pauls?
Burstbuckers I believe.

I have that DVD, it's the "Strat Pack"
http://www.amazon.com/Strat-Pack-Liv.../dp/B00081U6EG
Also stand outs are Hank Marvin, Joe Walsh, and of course Gilmour with Strat # 00001.
Moore has just nailed one of the meanest nasties Strat Tones every right there. And yes he was mostly a LP guy but rumor was he broke out a strat now and again. Our best guess on the tone was mostly a cranked Marshall JCM800. What ever it is, it is amazing.
Re: Looking for this strat effect...
I don't think that tone comes in a pedal. That tone is in his shoes.
Re: Looking for this strat effect...
It appeared as if that tone was being sucked straight from his face.
Re: Looking for this strat effect...
That's some nice stuff. I'd imagine the amp's pretty bright as he's on the front pickup. A Marshall/TS will do that for sure.

He plays (ed) the Peter Green Les Paul, ES-355, Gary Moore Les Paul and the good old Fender Strat!
