The blonde/maple/blackguard photo thread
It seems this is the quintessential color combination for a Tele. For the sake of this thread, we'll consider Butterscotch, Honey Blonde, Vintage White, and all variances one of the heard. However, it MUSt have a maple board and a black guard.
So, whattya got? Let's see those phtots! I'll start with mine and phtotgraphically challenged Frank's:
Mine, '90 AS, tinted neck. CS OV Pups.

Re: The blonde/maple/blackguard photo thread
This one isn't really a Tele at all.
It's my USACG T-Style.
It has a USACG Swamp ash body with Minwax Wipe On gloss poly finish, USACG 1 piece maple neck (with really tall frets and 9-1/2" fretboard radius) with Minwax Wipe On satin poly finish, Fralin Blues Special bridge p/u and Fralin Stock neck p/u, Callaham compensated saddles and Fender '52 reissue hardware.
It sounds great and is a joy to play!

I really like the transpaerncy and color of that finish. '52 reissues are usually a milky orange!

I was ready to be a little disapointed based on what I have seen recently, but when I opened the case, I was very, very happy.

Nice grain pattern, retrorod! And that tan--cocobutter or is that fading, or too many smoky bars?

The stores around me must buy lights at the same place as do the stores around you. All the one's I've seen are coated in about 1/2" of Halloween orange bleck. I'm looking for a brown and a blonde guitar to freakin' make candy corn out of them. :toobad
But that one's a honey, Telerat! :ola

The finish is big part of why I decided to build my own (besides getting to spec the weight, neck shape, fretboard radius, fret size, pickups, and hardware, as well as save about $400 which I'll promptly lose if I try to sell mine. That, and it was a lot of fun to do).
These guitars here look really nice though.

Yeah, Sinner--she has seen a few smoky bars..as have I thru my 'beer goggles'. As far as cocobutter...well she plays smooth as butter!
I think the color is a darkening of the poly with exposure to light(uv rays).
When I bought it about 15 years ago, it was original except for a crude brass nut--go figure! I promptly replaced with a bone nut.
After the neck p'up went bad I replaced with an Am St one. Since, I have tried Texas Specials and the Fralins.
I always felt comfortable with upgrading the parts as it is easy to put back on the tele. The brass saddles were a MAJOR improvement is tone over the original steel ones..Rod
