I was just playing my R9 for about an hour
Giving serious consideration to selling everything else and just having this Les Paul, my CV70 strat and depending on the Tele build (now heading into year 3, I think) decide between that and my avatar CV50 Tele.
Well, maybe keep the ebony R0. And a bass. And an acoustic. And, and ... oh, god, every time I try to get out, they pull me back in

Hearing that. I sold one of my guitars a couple weeks ago, hadn't really played it for ages.
Just last week I was playing something, and said to myself, "I should grab my Mockingbird for this... wait, it's not mine anymore..."
Re: I was just playing my R9 for about an hour
I consider that sometimes. My Carvin DC150 kills everything else that I've played with humbuckers and my T-Style is awesome. Other guitars almost seem like a waste of time and money. I would love to have a good Les Paul, but it'd have to be better than that Carvin.
Same with amps. My tweed Deluxe clone, Avatar 45, JCM800 and Dr. Z Cure are really good amps. I often practice through a great Princeton Reverb clone. My Dr. Z Nova and Z Wreck aren't quite as great as the Avatar and JCM800 while covering similar ground. I love my '66 Vibrolux Reverb, but seldom get to use it the way I like.

after taking pictures of the Deluxe, I got the R9 out for some shots

Re: I was just playing my R9 for about an hour
Do you have a preference for the R9 over your new Deluxe? Both of the guitars are beautiful, but in my subjective opinion, the Deluxe is stunning. i've wondered about Deluxes--is it true that mini humbuckers are still powerful in those guitars but that they avoid the boom you get when your LP has regular hbs? If so, do those pickups get the warmth you sometimes want?
Re: I was just playing my R9 for about an hour
The mini hums do not lack for power. What I should do some day is get an a/b box, plug both guitars in and switch back and forth to do a real shoot out. I think the R9 is definitely sweeter, it has that classic blues sound. The Deluxe is brighter, but the guitar itself has thump like few I've played, even unplugged. I think it would excel, slay even, as a rock guitar.
While my Princeton is not a slouch, I'd like to hear both of these through a proper Marshall, or good Marshall clone. If I get a chance, I'd like to bring both these guitars to my friend's shop and try them through his amps.

I’d be interested I. Your opinion after an a/b like that. It won’t be best / better. It’ll be great / also great.

Beautiful, just outta curiosity doesn’t it have a screw hole on the top for the pickguard?

most come with them installed. Some dealers have hand selected blanks and decide not to have the pickguard installed to show off the whole top.
I haven't really decided if I'm going to install mine. I chose the guitar because of the neck and fingerboard and how it plays and sounds. The looks didn't hurt either :D
