I love thelook and feel of neck through guitars!
Those Yamaha basses are nice.

Yet another wonderful instrument! Reminds me of the Yamaha McCartney played ca 1980. I'll bet it rocks.

I am playing our weekly jam this week - will play this setup as-is. It seems nice - and has really great tone. I also want to get a friend to play it so I can see how it sounds out front - and get his opinion as well.
I will say this.....
NO remorse as of yet. tried it at home - had a few minutes uninterrupted with it. that said - my living room is acoustically hostile - full of buzz and vibration. I will try the spacious Jam room and see how it is.

Those can be really nice instruments. Sounds like you got a good one.
Thanks Silent J - I think so.
the tone with both pups is that deep and complex tight clock-like jazz tone I LOVE with a little more presence, but no brittle sharp clank.
hmmmmm - not sure if that covers some of it or not - but I like it!
Thursday will tell the tale.
The only thing I am less than thrilled about - but but really doesn't matter to me is.....has a De-tuner - but it looks just like the original tuners - maybe it is? Who know - all works fine - its in 9.7 of 10 condition - setup well and has nice looks.
I am not a fan of natural blonde wood - but it really does look good.

Natural is hit or Miss to me, but this one works. I think at least...

I have a thing for natural blondes - I think it looks gorgeous!

My pal Gary L. has a known-real 1966 Jazz Bass that had been horribly mis-finished by the first owner, so he took it down to the wood (ash, I think) and started oiling it. Today, it's the prettiest bass guitar in the world. This bass has that same vibe.
really?? thats coool - good to know.
I will be playing it tonight - pretty psyched to see how it is. also have the Roger Waters P Bass in tow - a friend looking at it for purchase. I jsut tweaked the setup - he likes it higher like I do, but with the neck straigter.......I had it clean and low - too low for me. I don't have a lot of finesse - and am pretty clumsy sometimes. Just can't do that setup for me.
If the RW sells - its pretty much a wash - I'll take it!

Frank, what did you not like about the Roger Waters bass? I almost bought one to convert to a lefty, but the lefty Hofner got my GAS attention.

Nothing i Don't like about it - just a little wide for my little hands

I love the look of that bass. Not big on black-out instruments, but it looks so good with that maple fretboard.

I'm sure you guys know this already, but I play J necks on all my F type basses. P necks are too wide for my hand. And, I'm with Willie on this one. I like the "blackout" treatment.

My next bass will probably be a parts build of a Precision body and a Jazz neck--a few years down the road. My hands are like chucko's. That's one of the reasons I'm enjoying my Hofner and it's short scale and small neck, just right for my Vienna sausage fingers.
