Coper Shielding my Strat tonight ( pics)

I put a ton of Copper tape inside the Strat tonight, while Im changing out pickups. Thoguht Id try a 10.6K overwound A2 bridge pickup, keep a Duncan SSL-1RW/RP in the middle, and go with a Zhang 6.4K pup in the neck.
I thought I would use a pencil torch to nake sure the copper got sticky enuf to stay down on the adhesive copper tape-probably didnt need it. I didnt have good luck with the cheap pencil torch anyhow -it kept going out.

Jerry, can't see from the phtots but it's a good idea to let some of the copper tape fold over the top edge to contact the foil on the guard.

That said, I gotta admit I'm no fan of copper sheilding - I think it affects the highs too much for my ears.

Ditto. But if you're into high gain, it's a good thing. You can't tell the diff if you're a high gain dude.

If you have a unsheilded wire going from the jack to the controls, nows the time to change it as this adds a lot of hum and noise also.

    I overlapped mine like this:

and then I shielded across the pickup part of the pickguard:

I confirmed continuity on both pieces with a meter on the top - that adhesive is conductive too. The the whole cavity shield connects to the ground.

It helped a lot. That guitar has lindy fralin blues specials in it.
