How would you do this Strat wiring mod?

My friend Gary has an idea he wants to try, and asked me... I don't know enough about the components to even guess, so I'm asking y'all.

Could you use a Fender S1 switch to set up a Strat so that when the switch was unengaged the guitar was wired normally, but when it was engaged you bypassed the tone controls (volume straight to output jack)?

Ever heard of this? Can this S1 be used this way?

You should be able to do that, no problem. I can't really draw it, but essentially ou would connect the "hot" end of the capacitor to the throw of the switch, and one side to the connection to the volume control.

The other side should go to ground, so that the hot end of the cap is grounded when it's disengaged. That should eliminate popping.

The S-1 switch is really a PITA to work with since the terminal pin-out is so complex and the solder points are so small.

An easier method might be to merely use a pair of no-load tone pots. Once the detents are engaged, the pots and tone caps are removed from the guitar circuit.
