If you properly set up a Fender bass it won't lack sustain. I can get mine to feedback, no joke. What I've found is that a lot of "fixes" are for duds, turds, or dogs (whatever you want to call them). Hope you enjoy your new bass, I'm sure you will.

Thanks, Chucko. I'm so excited. I haven't owned a Fender bass since 78, when I sold a righty Tele bass--dammit, the one that got away. Well, this will make up for it.

Consider a Babicz bridge. I've been playin Fender basses since 1971.
The transfer of sustain from the bridge to the body with the stock bridge is not all that it can be. (tho it would not hurt to stay with it) I have tried 4 different bridges & this one really stands out as a better vibration transfer device. Just IMHO.
As is, my Jazz Bass has plenty sustain. It has as much as my Rickenbacker with its through the body neck.
