I actually picked up a copy of the mag, the picture is a full two page shot; nice but it won't fit on my scanner. I'll give it the old college try and see if I can get something that gives you the general idea.

Anyway, these guys are trying to sell a line of tribute guitars; the Hendrix model is the first one. They have a licensing agreement with the Hendrix family, so they are legal. The guitar itself is a Custom Shop NOS Strat w/ a CBS style headstock ( nice to see they are using siomething a lot better than a Squier Affinty model for your $6K USD).

It didn't say, but I'm guessing that Fender is doing all the work and these guy's are re-selling at a hopeful profit.

The kicker here is that Hendrix used guitars bought off the rack. He didn't even treat himself to a lefty. No custom mods or paint. Not even noteable years. If the poor guy wasn't already in the big sleep, news of this would finish him off pronto. What a scam.

That's right. Even his favourite guitar wasn't modified at all (the black one, not the woodstock one) The sound came from his soul, you know...

I agree with you only to the extent that his white and his black strats he played in '69 and '70 both have maple nack with capped maple fretboard, only available on custom order at that time.

Unless they give you features you can't otherwise get.....say hardtail with CS pickups and a nice beefy neck. I like sig guitars, its not so much the sigs on them as it is the parts they come with.

He preferred his controls at the top of the guitar, so he used standard guitars.

You're dead on bzimm !

Also the sigs have some alternative wood combos , and funky electronics as well. Like my early JV , poplar body with maple neck, big soft v neck, med jumbo, 9 1/2 radius, ovetwound bridge p/u, custom wireing (no load middle p/u) etc.

I't's not the sig , it's the unique combo of woods and features.

The only issue may be some are high priced, but not the MIM's.

This thing goes beyond being a signature model. I'd feel like a fool playing a guitar with a big picture of Jimi on it. Plus, my guitars already have a big picture of me on them anyway.
