    Strat wiring question

I recently (today) acquired a Strat that has a 4 position rotary (with detents) pot in tone 1. It only impacts the bridge pup. There are slight differences in tone. All sound strat like, but position 2 on it is like pure strat with no hum. Research has not pulled up anything. Before I pull off the guard to see what's going on, anyone have any thoughts? The papers with it offered no insight.

I would just play it and enjoy it. I got to a point where I'm officially too old to go messing with a perfectly good guitar, LOL. Yup, I have ruined a few!

    Re: Strat wiring question

Usually on a Stratocaster it's either a stacked rotary switch that allows for umpteen pickup configs or a Fender Varitone clone. It might be that it is only in the circuit when the 5-way is in the first position.

That is exactly it; it only impacts pos 1.

A fellow on Strat Talk posted a diagram.
