    Widerage "Strat Deluxe" build

I'm sure some of you hang out on other forums and have probably seen this already.
Wanted to put the guts of a Tele Deluxe in a Strat body. Went through a few variations and finally settled on this.

    MJT alder body
    Musikraft neck

-maple cap/10" radius/chunky C profile that my guitar guy reshaped to lose some shoulder-
    Lollar Regal Widerange copies.

Once I got that Musikraft neck on, this guitar really came alive. It's so solid, plays so great and sounds like a Widerange equipped guitar should. I use it all the time.

With that in mind, I wanted to build another one with the same specs, only Ash body and Rosewood fretboard.
This one has proven to be a bit more problematic to get right. Still has some dead spots and just doesn't inspire confidence the way the black one does. I don't know if the fault is in the neck, or the body. Or both. It does sound good though. I'm not crazy about the aged blonde finish. It leans a bit more brown/khaki than I would like.

I like the headstock logo on the black one!

It'd be interesting to hear what you think of them if you swapped the necks. Does a tone improvement follow the body or neck or is the black guitar just the correct marriage of body and neck.

that was going to be my recommendation, try the maple neck on the blond body. If you still have dead spots then it's the body, otherwise it's the rosewood neck.

Haha. Yeah, my daughter did that.

I've thought about doing s neck swap, but I'm afraid I'll mess up the black guitar in doing so. I superstitious, and that thing is damn near perfect!

    Very cool!

I understand your reluctance to take the black one apart.

When I hit that perfect spot of tone and action all I want to do is change the strings.
    What happend?
