Check out what my friend policefan over at the TDP did to his CV Custom. A Non reliced Andy Summers clone.

What kind of bridge is that?

Elvis Costello
Here are all the parts he used.
-Armadillo Andy Summers style brass bridge with brass saddles and black screws
-Seymour Duncan SH-59' Neck pickup in nickel
-Fender Vintage 62' Tele bridge pickup
-Fender Eric Clapton mid-boost circuit kit
-2 flat head switches (these switch the preamp on and the out of phase sound)
- extra Fender 500k Audio Taper Pot (3rd knob for preamp gain amount)
-knurled flat Tele knob in chrome (for the gain knob)
-Fender Nashville Tele maple neck with a modern C shape
-Fender American staggered tuners (ideally, it's the Schaller heads, but they are pretty pricey and I got the Fender ones for $30 used and they are made by Schaller)
-3 ply black/white/black pickguard material (to cut the custom shaped cavity cover for the back routing)
-Fender wood pickup mounting screws for bridge pickup (it's mounted straight into the wood, not into the bridge)
-Fender weather strips for underneath the bridge pickup to create tension and float
Like.
I really liked the Fender Artist version of this except that it was the cost of a small car.
Still, is it really a tribute to Andy if the preamp isn't hanging out the back of the guitar and held in place with masking tape? ;-)
Nice build, Dunno bout that gold bridge with the crome bucker..
Shouldn't there be a midi pup on there somewhere? I mean if you were going to use it in say a Police tribute band?
I think that guitar looks mucccccch better than the Andy Summers sig. I'm not a big fan of relic-ed guitars. I come from the school that says, Ach! Another tiny ding on my geetar!

When they released this guitar, I was also thinking about getting one to go a'la' Summers with it. Well, 'inspired by', was as far as I want to go.
I would leave out the preamp and brass bridge and just go with 50s style brass saddles, but that's just me.
Regardless, this is killer!!!

I checked out the Fender video about the actual sig model.
The brass bridge plate on each one is broken, duplicating the original. A crack eminates from the edge of the right radius of the p'up hole to the outer edge of the plate.
(It's like the Liberty Bell)
It the video, the CS guy who's demoing the guitar bings it with his finger, noting that each one makes the same "bing," as though it has tonal significance.
Perhaps it should be noted that by his pinging method, it appears that part of the bridge doesn't make contact with the body.
It IS a neat guitar. The preamp, used with the out of phase middle position, is pretty cool.

Its is a pretty cool guitar sounds good, And I love tele's so I may just have to do a build.
where did you get the mint guard? I just ordered one on ebay earlier today, has the 1/2 plate Wilkinson tele bridge and the pickup screwed into the wood...very cool! I have a nice maple USA Custom guitar neck, a Seth Lover bucker and a Fralin Blues special bridge pickup. Gonna skip the preamp though.
nice!

Great job!

I don't think the backplate is exactly the right shape!
Seriously though - I love it!
