my friend has a red maple neck tele white 3 ply pick guard the neck has a FEB 3 71 B stamped on the end.But the neck plate is174514 which says its a 1966? Any other things to look at to determine the year,I dont have photo capabilities right now.....thanks Gary

Look for the neck if it is a maple cap neck, like rosewood put on the maple neck and now it is just maple on maple (not 1 piece) and makes it '68 or so.
Late 60ies should have 2 patent nrs on the headstock.
